Please note: Julius Pitzman (1837-1923) was a highly influential surveyor and city planner in St. Louis. He personally planned Westmoreland and Portland Place and his firm, The Pitzman Company, now called Pitzman's Company of Surveyors and Engineers, was responsible for planning Vandeventer Place, Compton Heights, Benton Place, Washington Terrace, Clifton Heights, and Parkview Place.
Pitzaman's home depicted in the watercolor was located at 1900 S. Compton Ave, between Highway 44 and Russell Blvd. (In 1912 he moved to #6 Kingsbury Place, where his family lived for several generations. That house was designed by Hullmuth & Hellmuth.) Thank you to Esley Hamilton for your generous assistance and information!
